Re: LA fire conclave??
Sat, June 27, 2009 - 12:30 PMNope, LAFC has been shut down. We do have, however, several conclaves that are active (or new)
Garnish - (closed) fire troupe.
Pois In the Hood - semi-open, by audition only
Burn academy - (new) reportedly open.
It's worth pointing out that each group must have their submission video tuned in to Crimson by the beginning of July, so the time to join those groups is long past. -

Re: LA fire conclave??
Sat, June 27, 2009 - 2:13 PMI just love the ART of fire on so many levels and want to meet up with like minded people. I want to learn about, play with, and dance in it.
Thank you Tedward -

Re: LA fire conclave??
Mon, June 29, 2009 - 6:36 PMOK. Im a little confused. I thought the LAFC was meeting in the park and then stopped. Did burnclub pick up where they left off? I moved to CC a few months ago and was under the impression Wednesday burns no longer happened. Hmmm....Now Im excited!
Thanks for the info!!! -

Re: LA fire conclave??
Mon, June 29, 2009 - 6:58 PMTedward originally got the park in Culver Ctiy so that LAFC would have a place to rehearse, and he figured he would keep it going all year round so everyone can enjoy, and called it Burn Club
So LAFC is gone, but the park is still there, cause Tedward's a badass.
Really, imagine all the bureaucratic nonsense he had to go through to get Culver City PD and FD to not hassle a bunch of hippies playing with fire in a park after hours.
He has to pay annual fee's and shit too.
Just sayin' -

Re: LA fire conclave??
Mon, June 29, 2009 - 7:52 PMthat's essentially correct. After Fireplay got shut down in .... 2001 I think, I had to find a new place for LAFC to meet and practice. Burn Club was the result. And since we were paying for a whole year's fire permit, it seemed silly not to keep going when LAFC didn't need it.
In fact the last couple of years, I've been working to separate the two in people's minds (even buying http://www.BurnClub.Info ). This came in handy when LAFC got shut down. Now It's just a community practice location, and nothing else. -
