We at camp notwildaboutit had a fine time at not Burning Man in the Mojave. Our wicker man was small and our numbers below 100, but it had the proto-burn essence I have always wondered about. A can do make it happen attitude. Our modest propane poofers were the only propane flame effects, and it was fun to contribute. As one of 50,000 one is lost, as one in 100 one makes a difference. Met great people, came home happy. Love the small burn, may regional burns thrive. Thank you Ricky and Athena!

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Sun, September 13, 2009 - 4:04 PMYesh, yesh! We had a glorious time as well. Hats off to everyone who made it happen, and it was great talking to all the folks who stopped by our camp. It was nice to be able to go and see the canyon and Randsburg during the day also. I will definitely come back to the area to camp and look about again.
Thanks from Posh Gypsy. -

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Wed, September 16, 2009 - 7:41 PMThe obvious next step is to schedule one *not* during Burning Man, so that everyone can attend. A new regional is born! -

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Thu, September 17, 2009 - 1:10 AMI disagree. Keep it scheduled During the burn. You want a regional, start something else. -

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Thu, September 17, 2009 - 5:31 AMMy thoughts as well. It was planned with the "No Burner Left Behind" concept in mind, and if it becomes an annual event (which I hope it will) I think it should continue to be done so as an alternative for those who can't afford Burning Man tix, can't take the time off, need a break from the big event, etc, etc.
I would totally be down for a regional camping event that's not held during Burning Man, but I think it should be another event entirely. Keep "Not Burning Man" as an option for people who can't make it to the big burn.

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Fri, September 18, 2009 - 7:39 PMWell, I was thinking of another event at the same location, not moving the not-BM event to another time. Maybe a Spring or mid-Summer thing. -

It is? Well, that's news to me. -

Sat, September 19, 2009 - 10:43 AM... or am I thinking of the wrong party? -

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 2:59 PMI thought they said they'd surely be back for 2010, but I guess that still requires them to find a suitable location, which I don't think they've done yet. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: not Burning Man 2009
Sat, September 19, 2009 - 6:32 PMI don't know if LIB will be back, but I always thought it was well before memorial day weekend. We lost Bandito last year for memorial day, but that's pretty small so I don't know if that's what you were thinking. -

Re: not Burning Man 2009
Sun, September 20, 2009 - 10:14 AMNo, I'm thinking of LIB. I just checked their site and the 2008 event was on MD weekend. I guess I didn't get the memo about their intended return. -
