Our dear friend and brother, Lou Genise peacefully transitioned early this morning at around 3:23am on Friday February 13, 2009 at his residence in Echo Park, CA. Lou was surrounded by his family and very close friends who were there to support and love him in his last hours while in his earthly vessel.

Lou Genise was a very talented soul. He was an amazing artist, an inspiring fire performer, a craftsmen, a builder, a philosopher, a storyteller extraordinaire, a comedian but most of all, he was a true, genuine friend to all that crossed his path. Although he has transcended into the Universe at such a young age, he lived a very full and abundant life which in return gave those he touched abundance in their lives, as well. He will be deeply missed by his community of family and friends.

Lou's family is appreciative of all the support and loving care his friends have given to Lou and his family in this time of need. The viewing will be held on Sunday February 15, 2009 from 2pm-6pm at White and Day Mortuary located at 3215 Sepulveda Blvd. Manhattan Beach, CA 90266 (310) 792-7575. There will be a slide show during the viewing and then a video following afterwards.

If the weather permits, a ceremony/celebration will follow at Dockweiler Beach (at the most Northern fire pit) from 6pm-10pm. Please bring food, drinks, wood and fire tools to join in the celebration of Lou's life!

From 10pm-midnight, everyone can gather at Aaron Land's home at 659 Broadway Street, Venice, CA 90291. Now if the weather does not permit us to go to Dockweiler Beach, then everyone can proceed to go straight to Aaron Land's home after the viewing.

In lieu of flowers, you may send a donation in Lou Genise's name to The City of Hope at secure.cityofhope.org/DONATE/...on.aspx.

Also, some people have mentioned that they have loaned items to Lou that they would like to have returned. Please contact Jaime. She would like to give these items back to their owners on Monday, February 16th - so it is important for people to get in touch with her ASAP. The easiest way to contact her would be either email atJGularte@aol.com or at 310-867-5545.

I may not have everyone's email addresses so please forward onto others you feel would want to pay their respects. Thank you everyone for your continuous support and love.

Sincerely,

Tangee, Dalmacio, Andrik, Lou's family and extended family

Jaime actually was our lead in making sure we did what we could for Lou, she and his mom didn't leave his side for over a week. Lou was right to trust her, I know I couldn't make it through without her.

Thank you JB, and all his friends for helping us make sure his send off was as full of life as he was.

GREAT to know that he was totally cared for until the end. I had no idea when we saw him at Decom that he wasn't doing well - he looked really good. Unfortunately, Pope and I didn't find out about Lou or the ceremony until we got home to SB on Sunday nite. We had a little ceremony of our own, a celebration of Lou!!
Love to you guys and also to his family xo

I fondly remember Lou in my early years at that thing in the desert.

    Here's a tribute video I mashed up: is.gd/k4KX

This video is a mashup of footage taken at the memorial service for Lou Genise this past weekend and videos taken by others during his lifetime. I realize this is a very vulnerable time for everybody and so I tried not be intrusive. I hope that I didn’t offend anybody. This is my way of grieving, remembering and saying goodbye.

I'm sorry, but is it me? Why is Lou's reference in the latest LABM Announce list placed at the very bottom? There are like four other items, the first two being for profit events. Furthermore, none of the previous items takes place in Los Angeles.

I'm sorry. To me, a list entitled and produced for the Los Angeles community should feature a fallen community member at the very top. I'm sorry. But that's just me.

I'm really sorry but it just hit me hard and weird. I can't even remember the last time their was an update to the LABM announce list. I'm still reeling at Lou's passing and if it were me, I would have posted a bigger tribute and put Lou on the top.

You don't have to apologize, Lou's passing has affected us all in different ways and i am sure anyone who is friends with Lou completely understands where you are coming from. We all deal with lose in different ways and there are a lot of emotions we are all feeling, so i am sure people will understand if you need to get this off your chest.
I also wanted to thank everyone who helped Lou out in his final days is this world and his transition to the next, you guys are truly guardian angels in my eyes, so thank you.
