Re: Decom dates
Mon, July 6, 2009 - 4:38 PMFrom laburningman.com yesterday:
Yes save the date. October 3rd is the official LA Burning Man Decompression festival and YES it will be at the LA State Historical Park formerly known as "not a cornfield."
So as you get ready for Burning Man think about what you are bringing to Decom just one month later.
And if you are not going to Burning Man, then think of this as your time to see all your friends all in one place.
Neighborhood:
Downtown LA
Address:

Re: Decom dates
Mon, July 6, 2009 - 8:35 PMhuh, and here i thought it was called, "yes a cornfield". ; ]
that park rocks,
yet does anyone know if there are extreme noise limitations due to the nearby houses?
(and here's hoping the MTA would magically run the Goldline later than midnight on that eve.) -

Re: Decom dates
Tue, July 7, 2009 - 12:16 AMI had fun taking the gold line last year and getting some strange looks, which, in a few cases, sparked good conversation. I don't know about "Extreme" noise but Gooferman was pretty loud last year. I'm gonna guess there aren't any restrictions. -

Re: Decom dates
Wed, July 8, 2009 - 11:24 AMIm not sure how late it will run, park ussually shuts down by midnight. However, Decom has special permission this year for the folks throwing the event to camp out there through the weekend, and with after parties it shouldn't be too hard to find something to do untill 4 am when the trains start back up again.
For those who don't know, October is the last month this park will be available to the public before getting shut down due to state budget cuts. The organisers of Decom have been given the use of the park through the entire month of october, as a community we should all take advantage of that situation. Got a show or idea? Tell them over at LAburningman.org -

Re: Decom dates
Wed, July 8, 2009 - 3:46 PMWhat a shame that it has come to that. I had hoped to go to Decom last year, but then again, I had hope to go to a lot of things last year and this yer that didnt work out. Hmm.....can anyone recommend good places to park nearby? Im not familiar with LA other than driving through it most of the time. :)

Re: Decom dates
Wed, July 8, 2009 - 4:28 PMaww man!
that park is the *best* place to go do outdoor yoga in downtown l.a.
with the train right there
it's like *way* easy
and it's all magical.
maybe they need to hand the park over to the hands
of burner conservatorship.
