I go to the regional and Burn type events whenever possible - I truly enjoy these events and feel very welcomed. I have always wondered why doesn't Los Angeles (or SoCal) have a regional burn for those who choose not to go, cannot afford to go to the main event or cannot go due to health reasons?

Re: Curiosity - Los Angeles regional burn?
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 3:43 PMThey were one of the first cities to have an official Decompression.
They used to have a regional burn but when combined with Las Vegas then moved to the Hoover Dam, it felt like it was taken away, sorta. Having a regional -during- the burn isn't really something that happens much on the west coast. As you said they're more for people who can't make the journey. Plus Decom is close enough at you get actual Playa dust for your regional money.

Fri, August 14, 2009 - 7:31 PMHmmmm I wonder if a orphan Burn would interest anyone - say in Santa Monica mountains. No burning but camping? -

Fri, August 14, 2009 - 8:15 PMLightning in a Bottle is not an official regional, but it's got the burner spirit, I would say. It didn't happen this year, but the DoLab say it'll be back in 2010. There's also a co-incident gatherng in Mojave, though that looks to be pretty small.
