I bought an iPod Touch specifically to be able to to a little business on the playa. the WiFi net is a bit like the ice lines. Sometimes impossible, sometimes you stream right through. I think it was friday afternoon when I got the best line out. Did a little work then moved on with a meeting. It was awesome.

I went down to Center Camp last year and asked around. The guys in Media Mecca told me the best time was just before they got on to make their deadlines, because during that rush the interwebs were clogged with reporters and after that the rest of the city woke up and the WiFis were busy with burners. The best place was at Center Camp, although I think I remember there being a tower over by VooDoo Bistro at 5:20ish and F (although I'll admit the time may be off by an hour and the letter may be off by a bunch). One of the guys there had a laptop and never had any problem getting on.

... but what do you mean by "What if I have a WiiFii?" Do you mean a broad band card? Those depend on cel phone reception and that's been asked in another thread if I'm not mistaken. If there is cel phone reception, then look forward to roaming charges. I have a pair that my job issued me, so I have no idea what the deal is, but I think it might get pricey depending on your plan.

Or do you mean a wireless network adaptor in your laptop? If that's what you mean, then as above. I have no idea if there is a place you can get online with the equivialnt of an internet cafe in BRC.
